NAMES

We had lots of fun with names today. We used our names like puzzles and played with the letters and then glued them back together. We played some name games to help us learn each other's names better. We are also working hard on writing our names the "kindergarten way." :) We talked about the letter N!

GREEN

Green was the color for the day on Thursday. We had fun reading Froggy stories. We all learned how to make a scribble art frog. The best part of the day is when the kindergarten friends sounded out the word frog all by themselves! We are really making the letter sound connection! YEAH!!!!

In Daily 5 news. We started reading with a buddy. Here the kiddos are reading together with our Whipserphones!

YELLOW

We had a lot of fun with YELLOW buses. We sang and acted out the Wheels on the Bus. It was a lot of fun to listen to the different versions. For snack we made yummy yellow buses to eat! We also did a transportation graph to see how we get to school. Most of our friends ride in a car. We also talked about the letter Y. Our high school helper Kayla is reading us a story. We all love when Kayla comes in the afternoon! :)

PURPLE

Today we had lots of fun with the color purple. We read Harold and the Purple Crayon. We drew purple pictures and told stories about them. We also drank Purple Kool-Aid and ate cookies at our Party. Can you guess what letter we learned about today? P!

ORANGE

O-R-A-N-G-E.....that was the color of the day. We had fun mixing colors today. We learned that red and yellow make orange. We mixed 2 different play-doughs and we also mixed finger paint. It was a lot of fun! We are learning how to do math groups and to stay at an assigned area (which is very difficult for us). :) We are doing a great job learning our letter sounds and names! WHAT A GREAT GROUP OF KIDS!!!

Monday RED day

Today we had lots of fun with the color red. We learned red songs and we read one of Mrs. Timmerman's favorite books "The Kissing Hand." The scissors were brought out for the first time and the kids did GREAT!

We also learned about our second part of Daily 5...writing. The kids are doing beyond FANTASTIC! This is a super group of kiddos! :)

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Today we had lots of fun with the story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We made cool Chicka trees and then made trees that you can eat! :)
We were all VERY tired and ready for a few days of rest. Remember it is important to stick to some kind of schedule so that we can continue to learn lots of new things!

Fun with Monsters and Colors

Today we had a lot of fun with more monsters. We made a monster glyph, dot markered a monster and read monster books. We also were introduced to our friends that will help us with our letters sounds. Zoo Phonics help children learn their letters and sounds through actions and pictures. The kids LOVE it!
Today we also got to meet our 5th grade reading buddies. That was a lot of fun. We went outside for recess today so that they could help us learn about all of the playground rules!
It was another GREAT day in kindergarten! :)

All about Routines

Today we were so busy learning about routines and how things work. We did have a lot of fun reading Go Away Big Green Monster. We followed directions and drew some really cool monster faces. We also worked on our first area of Daily 5, Read to Self. We are working on reading/looking at books for a period of time independently. We got up to 2 1/2 minutes today, YEAH! (That seems like forever in Kindergarten time!)
We also started to work on our letters. Today we worked on the letter M! We made a M page. We opened 5 centers today and the kids did FANTASTIC! YEAH!!!!!
We are all VERY tired today, so rest up because another fun day awaits us tomorrow!
